Nebraska is a great place to live. I consider it a
privilege to have been born here in Nebraska and that my
husband John, of over 30 years and I have been able to
raise our children in the greatest city of our state
right here in Lincoln. I have stood shoulder to shoulder
with you to help address concerns within our community,
and have never been bashful about rolling up my sleeves
and getting right to work to make a difference.
The 46th legislative district has been well represented
by Senator David Landis for the past 28 years. Following
in his footsteps is an honor and large task for anyone.
It will take committed effective leadership. I want to
be and believe that I am that person.
Here is a little bit about myself. I was born and raised
on a farm in the Northeast part of the state and I am
the second to the youngest of 13 brothers and sisters. I
went to school in a one-room schoolhouse until 3rd
grade, when my brothers and sisters and I were bused
into town to attend school. I know rural Nebraska.
I came to Lincoln in 1971 and worked at the Veterans
Hospital until I married my husband John. I was employed
in the healthcare industry for 20 years.
Shortly after we married, we moved to Pennsylvania where
John managed a jewelry store but we missed Nebraska and
returned back to Northeast Lincoln and have been here
ever since. John is a graduate of Northeast High School.
John's family lived in Northeast Lincoln and this is
where we feel like we belong.
I know Northeast Lincoln. John and I have lived in the
46th District for over 20 years and we own a small
business in the 46th District. I am employed at Lincoln
Action Program as a Business Development Specialist,
helping individuals earn a living. I know what it takes
to run a business.
John and I have two sons: J.R. is employed at LES as an
IT Analyst and is currently deployed to Iraq for
Operation Iraqi Freedom. Spencer is a student at the
University of Nebraska Lincoln, majoring in Agricultural
Engineering.
I am running for Legislature because I care deeply about
Lincoln and the residents here. I live, work and breath
to protect the quality of life we enjoy in Lincoln's
neighborhoods. Our neighborhoods and the families in
them are the backbone of this City and State. People
know me as a tireless advocate for children, families
and neighborhoods and I'm ready to take that energy to
the Nebraska Legislature. My focus will be to preserve,
protect and promote your interests.
I won’t sit in an ivory tower and dictate to others how
things could be done better. I will roll up my sleeves
and pitch right in to resolve issues for our community.
I won’t criticize others ideas unless I come up with a
better plan. These are the ways I have always
accomplished great things for our community and I will
accomplish great things for the 46th District with this
approach.
